Christmas Ideas for FABULOUS Holiday Hair

Christmas is such a FUN time of the year. Its a busy time of the year too, but we do our best to make this time of year a lot about quality time and making great memories. This year has been super hard around here for that. My husband is working on a crazy intense job where he's working 60+ hours a week. Should I throw in there that he is also enrolled and going to school full time, so this month was finals for the semester as well... well it is. So we haven't nearly been able to do the "traditional" things we love to do. Lucky for us we will always have holiday hair!

I've seen seen some pretty over-the-top holiday hairstyles. I'm totally not into making the hair shaped in a Christmas tree or adding weird festive extras in the hair. I've seen it done well, and I've seen it look like a travesty too. So I avoid that line and try to not cross it. Beans is getting to that age where it is embarrassing to have that kind of thing going on in her hair. So these are three of my favorite Holiday hairstyles to do this time of year.

The traditional Candy-cane hairstyle. This is just a braid that we've wrapped ribbon around to make it look like a candy-cane. I don't have a step by step tutorial for this one, but I think its pretty self explanatory. The original post can be found here. I've had a few people post there own candy-cane hair on my Facebook page. Thank you for sharing your pictures with me. I love that!!!

The other day I did a video for my Halo Hairstyle. This picture is from the original post (found here) with the ribbon accents. I love it with the ribbon added to it. Its super cute and fun. Its been pinned a lot of Pinterest, so I am pretty sure this one will be seen a lot this holiday season. Thank you to everyone who shares our styles. I do appreciate it!!!

Last on my short list is my wreath. This one is a favorite and we totally haven't done it in a very long time, but I am thinking we will be doing this hairstyle for our big Christmas Eve party. I'm going to to let Beans bake the spiral ribbon for fun. She's going to love doing that. I do have a great picture step-by-step on this one, so check out that tutorial here.

Another one I thought of after I already had this post set up is my star. The star is a GREAT SYMBOL for Christmas! I should have thought of that one before, but I didn't. So you can check out that tutorial and decide if you want to use that one.

I hope you all are loving this time of year and taking advantage of spending a little more time with your loved ones. I wish you a very Merry Christmas. See you tomorrow with the last of my 100 days of hair Friday posts for the year of 2012. Did this year FLY BY for anyone else?

  1. This year has flown by definitely. Is it just me, or does each year seem to go by faster than the year before?? Lol Merry Christmas to you and your family!! Cant wait to do the wreath and candy cane hairstyles on my two daughters for Christmas Eve. Then, the halo for them being Angels in the Christmas play at church Sunday night. :)
