Lets Get Real KNOTTY

**UPDATE** This is another post where the photos went missing. Unfortunately I can't find my back up of this one and until her hair gets longer I can't redo this post, so hopefully my word tutorial is enough for now. Here we go--- Lets get real KNOTTY! We are using knots again. I've explained these a few times. You do your first row of knots going strait back. I have five knots. Odd numbers in hair are more flattering than even in my opinion, so I made sure to have five knots for all three of my knot rows. Do what works for you though.

When you get moving down the two side rows have more hair on the bottom than on the top when you pull your knot through. That way it sits a little higher. Also--- I don't do much of anything even. I like a little off centered-ness. So I might even next time I do this look make the top one sit off to the side too. I'll have to try it at least once just for kicks anyways.

Last step is to pull it back into a pony tail.

And I did a knot in reverse. That makes for a puffy pony tail. Gives these gals with thin hair some sweet bounce that they wouldn't have other wise. And here it is. Done!

Side Braids>> My way

For my step by step on a french braid go here and look it over. Or you can go here and see the video I did on braids. I have also given other links to how to do a french braid. Hopefully you have it figured out by now. This is a spin off that I came up with. I am sure **however** that I am not the first or only person to come up with this. I was just trying to find a way to do Nikyla's hair in braids that looked like this special way in the end. And because her hair is so thin I find doing braids on the side frustratingly hard! Tiny itty bitty pieces trying to be strung into the braids and it is so hard to work with! So I started taking just from the one side. I wish braid until I can add hair on the outer/front side. It goes twist twist add twist twist add. Where as it usually goes twist add twist add twist add. I don't know if that makes sense, but if you can figure it out you will find that it finishes more to the back of the bunch and the one side (the back) looks virtually untouched. This is also one you will want to figure out if you want to weave your braids all over the place. Because it rocks for movement in braids.

From there I made some piggies.
And made them messy. I also used the big ball pony tail holders to doll it up even more.
And surprise--- Its not Nikyla that we were using as a model today. S.J. has returned! Thank you S.J. You look fabulous! And thank you Bobbi for the new Orton photo effect!

Real Head Bands

Headbands are a funny thing to me. I love them, but Nikylas hair just slips through and looks really goofy. I don't know if it is because her hair is thin or if everyone has this problem. Last year in November when we were having our family pictures taken I came up with this solution. Hopefully it works for you if you have this same problem.
To make sure it doesn't slip and slide all over the place I do some twists underneath it. Why twists? It is very subtle and doesn't look so much like you have her hair done under the head band. And if the head band has to come off mid day you have a hair style underneath and no crazy fly away hair. You are going to use two strands of hair and twist them inward towards each other. The one on the right goes counter clock wise.
And the one on the left will twist clockwise. You will hold them together with your little rubber bands. Big hair things are really not going to work for this style. Suzanna suggested using the rubber bands that are used for braces. I thought that was a brilliant thought! So look into that! Those would be perfect!
You are going to repeat this all the way across the head. Being careful about having them finish about where you are going to have the headband. That way the head band covers them up and they are not seen.
Heep them small and thin also so that it is very subtle on the finished look. Wide ones would not be ideal for this look.
Throw in the head band and even the loosest of head bands looks like it is holding nice and tight! And tell me she doesn't look like a summer darling! What a doll!

Don't forget to help make it happen. I haven't received many tries on this look. Do you need some incentive? I am eager to see what you come up with so give it a try and email me those examples! Lets have fun!

Also another fun hair do sight has emerged. Hair 4 my Princess was left on my comments from someone. And I went and checked out her stuff. I had to try her Chain Gang hair style today. So Nikyla is sporting one of her fancy do's today. Enjoy that sight too!

Thanks guys! Have a good day!
