This was Beans the first time we did a hair do with these fun home made curlers. When I came to edit and fix this post this was one of the only ones that still showed up. I think I found the reason why I lost my pictures from old posts... Photobucket. I think I was using that for a while for some of these posts and I must have deleted them from that and not realized it would effect the website. Oops- my bad.Doesn't she look so little in this picture? We've been doing Girly Do's for a long time.
The original post was to show this fun new hair curler that I had made and wanted to try out. I found them at this website and made them while my husband was remodeling the house. I've never been super impressed by the curls. They are pretty and look light, but they don't last long. So I went and picked up some setting lotion for this time around to see if they last longer.
The setting lotion did make a huge difference. This is a concentrated formula, so you need an extra water bottle to mix it. You apply it to the hair as you are rolling it. Each strand add a little and smooth it over the hair before you roll it.
I also discovered that I need more curlers... Her head had got bigger since the last time we used these. We still went forward and rolled the hair so that it would have a spiral finish. She slept in the curlers and they stayed in nicely. All except for the one that was in her bangs--- LOL. She reports that it wasn't hard to sleep with them in- they are rather soft.
In the end... BIG FAT SPIRALS that held up a lot better than the first time we did this tutorial. I am sure the setting lotion helped out a lot. I love these fun curlers--- have you made your own set since I first posted this tutorial back in 2008?
